Privacy and how the call gets recorded
Otter is a cloud service, and that's the whole design: audio goes up to Otter's servers, is transcribed there, and lives in your Otter workspace so your team can search it. If that's what you want, the upload isn't a bug — it's the product. Worth reading before you commit a company's calls to it: Otter's privacy policy lists training its own AI on de-identified audio recordings and on transcriptions among the things it does with that data.
Callmora inverts it. Transcription and speaker labels run on your Mac, offline, with no account and no upload. Two things can be switched on if you want them, both on your own key: cloud transcription sends audio to AssemblyAI, and AI notes & chat send the transcript text to whichever model you configure — including a fully local one through a custom endpoint. Out of the box, nothing leaves the Mac, and nothing ever passes through a Callmora server, because there isn't one.
