Callmora documentation

Everything you need to record your first call and get clean notes. Callmora runs on macOS 26 (Apple Silicon).

Install & first run

Download the DMG, drag Callmora to Applications, and open it. On first launch a short setup asks for two permissions and lets you pick a mode:

  • Microphone — to capture your side of the call.
  • System audio — to capture everyone else (the call app's output).

Callmora lives in the menu bar. Start a recording with the menu‑bar button or your shortcut; stop it the same way, and your notes appear when processing finishes.

Local vs Cloud

Local — free & private

Transcription, speaker separation, and summaries run entirely on your Mac. No account, no keys, nothing leaves the device. Best for privacy and everyday calls.

Cloud — highest accuracy

Uses AssemblyAI for transcription and an AI provider (OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude) for the summary, with your own API keys. Best when you need the sharpest transcript on hard audio. Switch modes anytime in Settings.

Getting your API keys

Cloud mode needs two keys: one for transcription (AssemblyAI) and one for the summary (your choice of provider). Paste them in Settings → Transcription / Summary; Callmora stores them in your Mac's Keychain.

AssemblyAI (transcription)

Create an account, then copy your key from the dashboard: assemblyai.com/app/api-keys.

Summary provider (pick one)

You can also point Callmora at a custom OpenAI‑compatible endpoint (Ollama, vLLM, LiteLLM) to summarize on your own infrastructure.

Custom vocabulary

Teach Callmora the names, products, and jargon your calls use so they're transcribed correctly. Open Settings → Vocabulary → Manage, then add terms one by one or paste a whole list. Terms boost recognition in cloud transcription and local Whisper.

Where your data lives

  • Recordings & transcripts stay on your Mac.
  • Local mode sends nothing off the device.
  • Cloud mode sends audio to AssemblyAI and the transcript to your chosen AI provider, using your own keys. Callmora has no server and collects no analytics.
  • API keys are kept in the macOS Keychain.

Updates

Callmora updates itself. When a new version is available it offers to download and install it — signed and notarized. You can also re‑check from Settings → General.
