AI notes & chat need a model: bring your own key (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, AssemblyAI) or point Callmora at a local model you run — either way you pay the provider directly, and nothing runs through Callmora.

Out of the box, never — transcription is local and nothing is sent anywhere. If you enable cloud transcription, audio goes to AssemblyAI on your own key. AI notes & chat send transcript text to the model you configure — your own key, or a fully local model. Optional iCloud sync goes through your personal iCloud, encrypted by Apple. Callmora has no server, no account, and no telemetry.

Any audio playing on your Mac — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, a browser tab, a phone bridge — captured together with your microphone.

Callmora is a native macOS app — there's no Windows or web version. There is an iPhone companion, included in your licence: it carries your whole library and records the calls that happen away from your desk, while your Mac does the transcribing.

Sometimes — it depends on where you and the other participants are; some places require telling everyone on a call that it's being recorded. No bot appears in the meeting, but that doesn't change your obligation to disclose where one applies, so Callmora shows a recording reminder to help you stay on the right side of it.

Yes. AssemblyAI's LLM Gateway, which powers cloud AI summaries, is a paid AssemblyAI tier; the free tier transcribes only. Or skip it: bring your own OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude key, or point Callmora at a self-hosted OpenAI-compatible endpoint (such as Ollama) instead.

If you turn on iCloud sync, your calls and notes stay in step across your Macs through your own private iCloud — opt-in, and off by default. Nothing syncs through a Callmora server.

Yes. Rename a speaker once and it updates everywhere — the transcript, the notes, and your exports.

Yes — optional, in Settings. A master password encrypts everything Callmora stores on your Mac (transcripts, notes, recordings), Bitwarden‑style. Day to day you unlock with Touch ID; a one‑time recovery key covers a forgotten password. While locked, Callmora keeps recording and transcribing — the results unlock with you. Nobody can reset the password for you, so keep the recovery key safe.

No. When you rename a speaker, Callmora keeps a numeric voice signature (an embedding, not audio) on your Mac and matches future calls against it locally. Nothing leaves your Mac unless you explicitly enable voice sync, which mirrors signatures to your private iCloud — and you can delete any remembered voice in Settings → Voices.

Copy the Notes or the Transcript (the copy follows the tab you're on), grab a compact chat‑ready summary to paste to colleagues — with a Full Copy option for everything — or save any call as a Markdown .md file.

Local mode runs Whisper on‑device and is strong for everyday calls. When you need the sharpest transcript on hard audio — accents, crosstalk, quiet speakers — switch to cloud mode (AssemblyAI). Custom vocabulary sharpens names, products, and jargon in both.

Yes. Connect your calendar and a Join & Record prompt appears as a meeting begins — open the link and record in one click. Callmora can also start automatically when a call app begins using your microphone, so you never miss the first minutes.

Yes. Import an audio file — including OGG/Opus and common formats — or drop in a video file and Callmora pulls the audio, then transcribes and summarizes it like any call.

No. Your license is a one‑time purchase — activate the same key under Settings → About on your Mac. There's no account and nothing to re‑buy.
